Rural Ways Woodcraft is situated at Arreton Barns Craft Village in Arreton on the south east of the Isle of Wight. Arreton is a valley that is surrounded by downland in the heart of the Rural Isle of Wight.
Rural Ways interest in woodcraft came after years spent working in woods, during and after college as part of conservation and habitat management programs. We felt that the wood needed to be used and not burnt and started to make small objects out of it. This lead to larger projects and where we are today.
Arreton craft village is situated next to a Norman church and has a medieval carp pond on the site. There is with a variety of working crafts to see, including our (Rural Ways) wood workshop and shop as well as glass blowing, candle making, pottery and a working brewery. The Dairyman's Daughter public house waits for you! It is a 'proper' English Pub. Real ales, traditional pub food, great evening choices. The Maltings Tea Rooms offer snacks and light meals through the day and mouth-watering cakes created by the in-house baker. So there is plenty to see and do.
You can get to Arreton Craft Centre by car, taxi or by bus from the ports at Yarmouth, Ryde and Cowes and the buses run from all over the Island with the main depot in Newport. Southern Vectis is the main bus supplier and can be accessed via thier web site at http://www.islandbuses.info/ |
